Microsoft announces Xbox Series X, arriving Holiday 2020

Microsoft today announced the next generation of game console, the Xbox Series X.

Previously known as Project Scarlett, the Xbox Series X is the fourth major console release from Microsoft and will be available for purchase this time next year in Holiday 2020.

The Xbox Series X is the successor to the Xbox One and the Xbox One X series of consoles and today’s announcement finally gives us a look at the final design of the hardware. The Series X features a vertical, monolithic design that eschews the AV rack friendly form-factors of previous generations. Microsoft says the Series X can be placed horizontally as well.

The front of the chassis houses a vertical disc slot with an eject button next to it. Also found is a single USB-A port along with an unknown button next to it. The glowing Xbox logo is in the top left corner and likely also acts as the power button.

The top of the device has what looks like ventilation grille with green lighting. By the looks of it, the thermal and cooling solution is similar to the 2013 Apple Mac Pro, where the cool air is pulled in from the bottom and expelled out the grille at the top.

The back of the console seems deliberately obscured in all the promotional material so we are assuming there are some surprises back there that Microsoft wants to hold on to for the final release.

Moving on to the controller, the Series X comes with a new controller that does look like the One X controller at first glance. However, the controller has been redesigned to be more inclusive and now works well with a wider range of hands. The new controller also features the D-pad from the Xbox Elite Series 2 Wireless Controller and also adds a new DualShock 4-style Share button for sharing screenshots and clips quickly and easily. The new controller will also be compatible with Windows 10 and Xbox One X consoles.

Coming back to the console, the new Xbox Series X features a new generation CPU and GPU from AMD. The CPU is based on the brand-new Zen 2 architecture found in the critically-acclaimed Ryzen 3000 series of desktop CPUs while the GPU is based on the RDNA architecture found in the new Radeon RX 5000 series of desktop GPUs. The new console will also feature integrated flash storage for significantly faster loading times.

Microsoft has some bold claims for the kind of performance we can expect from the new console. The Xbox Series X is claimed to have 4x the performance of the current console performance king, the Xbox One X. This means the Xbox Series X can do things like 4K at 60fps consistent or even 120fps in some cases. The console will also be able to output in 8K, although it’s likely the actual rendering will remain limited to 4K.

More important than resolution, the Xbox Series X also packs in some other, more relevant features. Variable Refresh Rate or VRR (also found on the Xbox One X) will ensure your display refresh rate matches your output frame rate on compatible monitors and TVs, so you get a consistent tear-free and stutter-free gaming experience. Variable Rate Shading or VRS will dynamically limit the shading in areas where it is not needed and focus the GPU resources in areas where it matters so you can get better performance without a perceptible drop in image quality.

The Series X also harnesses the Auto Low Latency Mode or ALLM in HDMI 2.1 so that the connected display will automatically switch to its lowest latency mode (often called Game mode) when the console is plugged in. A new feature called Dynamic Latency Input has also been added for developers to take advantage of and reduce the input latency in their games. Microsoft claims this makes the Xbox Series X the most responsive console, ever. These are useful additions, as input latency even on current generation consoles is often quite high compared to something like the PC.

Microsoft showed off some of the graphical abilities of the Series X in a new trailer for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, a sequel to the excellent Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. The trailer shows in-engine footage rendered on the Xbox Series X at 4K. The video showcases exceptional textures, lighting, material detail, particle effects and animation. However, in-engine trailer isn’t the same thing as real time in-game footage and if anything this is more of a showcase of the game engine than the Xbox. The trailer looks quite impressive but then they usually do and we’ll just have to wait for next E3 for some (hopefully) in-game footage.

Bengaluru man orders Apple iPhone 11 Pro from Flipkart, gets fake phone instead

A Bengaluru-based man ordered Apple iPhone 11 Pro from Flipkart. He got an iPhone with camera sticker pasted on back of the phone instead.

Online frauds have become relatively common these days. The internet is filled with reports wherein counterfiet products have been delivered to customers. Now in another similar case, a fake iPhone has been delivered to a Bengularu-based man instead of the iPhone 11 Pro that he ordered.

According to a report by the International Business Times, Bengularu-based engineer Rajani Kant Kushwah ordered a 64GB variant of the iPhone 11 Pro on Flipkart. He made the entire payment, which costed him Rs 93,900 after discount, online expecting that the phone would be delivered to swiftly without a hitch. However, to his dismay what he received was not the iPhone 11 Pro that he had ordered.

As per the report, Kushwah got a fake iPhone with a sticker of iPhone11 Pro triple camera setup pasted on the back of the phone where the camera is placed.

While at first glance, the phone that was delivered to Kushwah looks exactly like the phone that he had ordered, that is, the iPhone 11 Pro. However, on looking at the image one can easily spot the difference. In case you aren’t sure, the phone that was delivered to the Kushwah has the camera lenses and the entire rear camera module highlighted using silver linning. However, the rear camera module in iPhone 11 Pro that was launched by Apple earlier this year softly blends into back making it look like a single unit.

The engineer in a statement to the publication said that not only did he get the wrong phone but the unit that was delivered to didn’t run on iOS. “It has android apps mixed along with it,” he said.

He contacted Flipkart regarding the matter immediately after getting the dupe product. The company assured him that his phone would be replaced soon.

In a similar incident last year, a Mumbai-based man ordered iPhone 8 on Flipkart. He made a payment of Rs 55,000 online. However, he got a detergent bar in the box instead.

All in all, you must be careful when shopping online. A few safety tips:

  • Use a good anti-malware program.
  • Optimize your PC’s security settings.
  • Share payment information only with known or reputable vendors.
  • Use a credit card instead of a debit card.
  • Make sure the order checkout area is encrypted.
  • Print or save a copy of your orders.

EXCLUSIVE: Realme Buds Air full Specs & Price Leaked before launch!

We are all set to meet the first-ever TWS earbuds from realme, the Buds Air on December 17, alongside the Realme X2 model. Now, less than a week before its official release, we have got the complete specs and price leak of the upcoming earbuds.

Source: gizmochina

According to sources, the realme Buds Air will come with 17 hours of battery life. This should be the total battery life of the earbuds when charged with its companion case. It will come with 12mm DBB (Dynamic Bass Boost), which is larger than 11.2mm DBB drivers found on the realme Buds Wireless neckband headphones. We can also confirm that the Buds Air will support AAC codec.

The realme Buds Air comes with wear detection, so it will know when you are wearing it in your ears. The TWS earbuds will feature Bluetooth 5.0 and will come with touch controls, low latency gaming mode, as well as wireless charging. Our source also revealed that the case will come with USB-Type C port and not microUSB.

The realme Buds Air will also feature Dual Mic ENC for calling, however, don’t confuse this with active noise cancellation tech like the ones found in the AirPods Pro. It’s likely to ensure that your audio quality is better during calls.

Finally, our source confirms that the reame Buds Air will indeed be priced at Rs. 4999 (~$71), which is the same figure revealed by a leaked Flipkart listing earlier this week. The earbuds will go on sale immediately after the December 17 launch event in India.

Gaming: PUBG Mobile Addiction leads to a 20-Year-Old Drinking Chemical By Mistake Instead of Water While Playing

The 20-year-old man died onboard a train after he mistook a bottle of chemical for water and consumed it.

A man died after drinking chemical instead of water while playing mobile game Player Unknown Battle Ground (PUBG). He was travelling on a train and mistook a bottle of chemical for water and consumed it.

Saurabh, 20, was so busy playing the game with his friend that he mistakenly drank from a bottle containing chemical instead of the bottle which had water. Both the bottles were in his bag.

He was travelling on board the Swarn Jayanti train when the incident occurred.

Saurabh, who was a resident of Chandrabali Naka Jhansi Road in Gwalior, died after drinking the chemical as no medical help was available on the train. His body was later brought to Agra Cantonment railway station at 5 am.

The incident took place when Saurabh and his friend Santosh Sharma started playing PUBG while they were travelling to Delhi on Wednesday.

Sharing details of the incident with IndiaToday, Santosh Kumar said Saurabh was busy playing PUBG and did not even look into his bag while fetching the bottle containing water. He picked the bottle containing the chemical and drank from it.

While Saurabh realised after drinking a small amount that he drank chemical instead of water. He called for help and pulled the chain to stop the train. After 10 minutes, a guard came to investigate and told Santosh that there is no doctor on the train.

By the time they reached Agra Cantonment railway station, Saurabh was already dead, according to a doctor. Santosh, who has not been able to recover from the shock, said he will never play the game again.

Commenting on the incident, social activist Deep Sharma said the absence of doctors and paramedical staff on the train was surprising as the railway minister had assured proper arrangement of such provisions on trains prying long routes.

He added that there have been many other incidents where train passengers have died as they did not receive any emergency treatment.

Sharma also said the game PUBG is very dangerous and likened it to the “Blue Whale” challenge, a social network task-based game that allegedly led to many suicides, especially among teens and young adults.

The social activist concluded with a piece of advice for parents. “Earlier, during the Blue Whale game, children have taken dangerous steps like self-murder. In the same way, the dangerous results of PUBG game are coming out. Parents should focus on their children,” Sharma said.

Whatsapp to stop working on some phones from January 2020: Know if your device is on the list

Over the last few years, WhatsApp has evolved from being a simple messenger app to an all-in-one communication solution. That has only happened because of all the constant upgrades the app keeps on getting every week. With new upgrades and features, older phones don’t always cope up well and WhatsApp eventually keeps dropping support for them every year. Now, as 2020 approaches, WhatsApp has released a list of more phones that will drop support for WhatsApp once the calendar turns around.

The recent update to the WhatsApp support page has listed a few platforms that will stop getting updates and won’t run WhatsApp. The prime platforms among these are Android and iOS, and its bad news for those using older handsets. From February 1, 2020, all Android phones running on Android 2.3.7 won’t be able to run WhatsApp. That means no more updates and no more sending or receiving messages through the app.

And iOS devices are also not left behind. WhatsApp says that all iPhones on iOS 8 and older will stop supporting its service from February 1, 2020. Users of these iPhone models have already lost the ability to make new accounts on these devices from a long time and now, they won’t be able to use the app anymore.

There’s bad news for Windows Phone users as well. The platform is long considered dead but Microsoft recently dropped support for the OS and WhatsApp followed suit by ditching starting next year. If you use WhatsApp on Windows Phone, the app won’t work from January 1, 2020.

Hence, if you use any of these old phones, it’s suggested that you should upgrade to a new handset with recent versions of the software. Any of the iPhone models currently on sale run on iOS 12 and that should offer support for WhatsApp for at least 3 more years on older devices such as iPhone 6s. With Android, you have a choice of hundreds of devices to choose from. Sadly for Windows Phone users, they will need to move to either Android or iPhones.
